Rapid technology changes are fuelling a “fourth industrial revolution” which is fundamentally altering the way people live, work and relate to one another. This was accelerated in the private sector by COVID-19 bringing forward digital transformation by up to 7 years. But despite a 13.8% growth in public sector spending on digital transformation during the pandemic, 80% of public sector leaders still believe that they are behind private sector capabilities.

88% of SMEs believe that AI helped their companies during COVID-19, but how can government and defence harness the power of AI and other emerging technologies whilst mitigating concerns about access, bias and privacy?

5G is forecast to have more than £580bn market potential by 2025 in the EU alone, with use cases ranging from virtual surgery to smart bases and remote learning. What other opportunities are presented by the ability to move data 20 times faster, and how can it accelerate edge computing?

But with data breaches up 41% in 2020 alone, how can we ensure the protection of Critical National Infrastructure and key Defence assets? And with 80% of data forecast to be processed by smart connected objects by 2025, how do we prioritise which data to protect?
